Shaw Creek Big Game Drop Camp

Service Description

BackCountry​ Outfitters appreciates the wild's call of independence, for those hunters who accept that call, we offer multiple options for drop camps. We will provide a saddle horse and pack animal, and our staff will pack you, your personal gear, and groceries for your journey to and from one of our remote camp locations. As with any hunt, weather and physical condition of the hunter play a role in success. However our remote camps tend to enjoy a 30-40% harvest rate, and up to a 75% harvest rate is not unheard of. ​ Our camps lay in mountainous terrain with elevations between 8500-9500', and 2-8 miles from the trailhead. A maximum of 4 hunters per camp will be surrounded by spruce, aspen, and meadows. We'll furnish all of the camping equipment you'll need (a complete list will be presented at time of booking). All camps will be set up ahead of your arrival, including a supply of pre-cut firewood. Tree stands can/will be available upon request. ​ Staff will communicate daily with our camps, at a prearranged time. 2 of our camps are reachable via radio, while the other 2 will need to contact our office using their personal cell phone. This will allow us to assist with any game down, or supply needs you may have. While these hunts are unguided, BackCountry Outfitters is happy to pack-out any game harvested within a 3-1/2 horse trail of your camp. If accessible by pack animal, we can pack-out directly from point of kill. Your pack-in and pack-out dates, will be set at the time of booking (depending on availability of hunts). Needless to say, setting these dates is crucial to providing top notch service to all of our clients. Pricing is based on an 8 day excursion, including pack-in and pack-out time. Rifle camps typically pack-in 2-3 days in advance of season opener. All pack-in and pack-out dates will be reconfirmed prior to hunt, changes may occur due to other bookings. ​ Licenses -Archery - Bull Elk, Cow Elk, and Mule deer are by draw only, Bear licenses are over the counter -Muzzleload - Bull Elk, Cow Elk, and Mule deer are by draw only, Bear licenses are over the counter -Rifle Hunt #1 - Bull Elk and Cow Elk are by draw only, Bear licenses are over the counter -Rifle Hunts #2 and #3 - guaranteed over the counter bull elk licenses, cow elk and deer by drawing, bear available over the counter For more info about licenses, please visit the licenses page.
